Teaching Practice Underway, Increasingly with Focus on Earning Accreditation from the Council for Accreditation for Educator Preparation (CAEP)

November 5, 2019

Teaching Practice is now well underway for the 2019-2020 academic year. Teaching Practice, the BTC label for clinical supervision of student teaching, has been an important feature of the college since its founding in 2008. Modeled on the Teaching Practice program of the National Institute of Education in Singapore, the program supports, through BTC faculty supervision and Ministry of Education “cooperating teachers” four years of guided practical experience within classrooms in the B.Ed. program. In the Postgraduate Diploma in Education, the Teaching Practice supervision takes place over the full year of the program. CAEP accreditation requires very specific elements in a Teaching Practice program, so as a result, the college is working on integrating those elements over the coming two academic years.

Yesterday, the college invited school principals from the Ministry of Education to the University of Bahrain campus to learn about the requirements for the program.
