About BTC
Affiliated with the University of Bahrain, the Bahrain Teachers College
(BTC) is responsible for all teacher preparation and academically-based in-service
teacher professional development in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The College offers
undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as professional development
for in-service educators, with the commitment to provide leadership in the
modernization of Bahrain’s educational system. The language of instruction at
BTC is English and Arabic.
BTC was founded in 2008 through a partnership with Singapore’s National
Institute of Education (NIE) in which the NIE provided a curriculum and policy
foundation for the operation of the BTC. After a decade, the BTC is forging its
own identity with the continued support of the Ministry of Education (MoE) as
the sole employer of all BTC graduates, as well as the Office of the First
Deputy Prime Minister and the Economic Development Board of Bahrain.
Description of the College
The country’s only faculty of education, and the sole teacher training
institute of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Bahrain Teachers College was founded
in order to raise the quality of teaching and learning in the country, as well
as to increase the proportion of talented, ambitious, and high-achieving
Bahrainis as teachers in government schools.
